Our Story
Established in 1983, the Barrett Group has developed an enviable reputation for producing top-quality, innovative fit-out solutions across the retail, commercial and hospitality industries.
Led by Justin and Andrew Barrett, the second-generation company was built on a combination of unrivalled craftsmanship and excellent customer service. Upholding these values ensures that every project the team tackles is delivered on time and within budget.
The team has developed a highly specialized project management system which enables projects to be closely monitored and controlled from start to finish.
This system, along with a strong network of industry leading contractors, has enabled The Barrett Group to complete numerous projects in Australia and New Zealand
The Barrett Group’s joinery workshop, where the majority of the joinery work is produced, is among the best in Australia. The team takes a traditional approach to craftsmanship and a modern approach to production, using Pytha software to manage production and eliminate errors.
The workshop is a point of pride for the team and has become a business on its own, producing bespoke creations for commercial and private clients.
The Barrett Group remains committed to fulfilling clients’ needs by producing joinery of the highest quality. Our shopfitting expertise and experience is crucial in the creation of unique and successful retail store environments. Take a look at some of the work we’ve completed over the years.

Justin Barrett
DIRECTOR
With more than twenty years of hands-on experience and a solid team to rely on, Justin confidently lives by the motto ‘everything will be ok’.Justin takes a relationship-based approach to every project, where the aim is to create a lasting positive experience for clients rather than a simple sales transaction. Armed with an Associated Diploma of Business Accounting and a JP Qual, Justin’s role is to ensure the Barrett Group maintains its reputation of being honest, dependable and committed.
Maintaining those values is easy when you have a team which treats each other like family. Job titles don’t get in the way of the work that needs to be done when leadership sets the example on a day-to-day basis. Whether invoices need to be processed or stock needs to be unpacked, Justin prioritizes supporting his team in a practical way. This hands-on approach to all projects makes challenges more manageable, enabling the team to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining the quality of work Barrett Group is known for. Justin recalls Project 64 for David Jones, whereby the team had to move a department store from one building to another in 64 hours. The mix of excellent co-ordination and excitement from the team about the challenge, ensured the project went off without a hitch and each product fitted was built to last.A twenty-year term of employment is common for members of the Barrett Group team, where working together for years has resulted in a community that operates like a well-oiled machine. Justin attributes this culture to the company’s long standing open-door policy where everyone is treated like family, just as it was when his parents first opened the business.
Justin continues to drive the tradition of building products of such exceptional quality that they stand the test of time, with a team that works to the same beat. The future for Barrett Group will continue to include clients who prioritize value and excellence over price as the deciding factor.
